ChemLevel is inventory, reorder forecasting, and procurement software for chemicals used in water, wastewater, and pool/spa treatment. It tracks bulk tanks and discrete cylinders, forecasts when each will run out from real reading history, and drafts the order before you do.

Any liquid chemical stored in a bulk tank — sodium hypochlorite, alum, ferric chloride, caustic soda, sulfuric and hydrochloric acid, fluoride, polymer, and custom chemicals — plus gas or liquefied chemicals stored in cylinders, like chlorine gas, sulfur dioxide, and anhydrous ammonia. Tanks and cylinders are tracked side by side in the same system.

Municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, hotels and resorts with on-site pool/spa treatment, commercial and industrial facilities that dose their own process chemicals, and any multi-site operator who needs one view across several plants instead of a spreadsheet per site.

Tell us. No two plants run the same way, and a missing field or an awkward step is worth a message rather than a workaround. We build ChemLevel ourselves, so a change to a form, a report, or the order of a workflow is usually days rather than a roadmap item — and it goes to the people writing the code, not a ticket queue. If it turns out ChemLevel is the wrong shape for your plant, we would rather tell you that than sell you a subscription you fight with.

Starter is $79/mo for a single plant. Team is $129/mo per plant and adds budget and procurement tracking — an annual budget per chemical, spend measured against it, and lab inventory. Full details are on the pricing section of the homepage.

Yes — 15 days free when you create your organization, with no credit card. Nothing is charged automatically: at the end of the trial you pick a plan, or access stops. You can also try the live demo first, any time and without an account, on sample data for a fictional two-site operator.

Yes. Signing up on the site takes a card, which suits most private operators; a city, district or authority that buys against a purchase order is set up differently — we invoice you instead. The invoice is emailed when each period begins, payable in 30 days by check, ACH or card, and a W-9 is available on request. Annual billing is available on the same footing, at ten months’ price for twelve — $790 a year for Starter, $1,290 a year per plant for Team — which is usually the point for a department that would rather raise one purchase order a year than twelve. Ask before your trial ends and the first invoice can be raised to match your purchase order rather than the other way round. Worth knowing either way: an invoice still working its way through accounts payable does not lock anyone out — readings, orders and history keep working while it is paid. Sales tax is added where we are registered to collect it, and shown before you pay rather than turning up on the invoice afterwards. If your entity is exempt, as a city, district or authority generally is, send us your exemption certificate and we apply it to your account — every invoice from then on shows no tax. In Texas that is Form 01-339, signed by the purchasing entity. Send it before you subscribe if you can, so the first invoice is already right; if tax was charged before it reached us, tell us and we will credit it back. Email info@chemlevel.com.

Yes, on the Team plan, and deliberately as a separate thing. Reagents, standards and glassware have their own list and their own budget — a box of Chemkeys is not a tank, and mixing the two would make both numbers meaningless. You add an order by pasting the vendor’s confirmation or choosing the PDF they sent; the items, quantities and prices are read from it, and the item list builds itself from what it finds. From there you get price history per item, spend by month and by year, and an optional reminder on the day of the month you count. It is optional per plant — a site that does not run its own lab turns it off and never sees it.

Nothing keeps it. The file or pasted text is read on your device, the catalog number, quantity and price are taken out of it, and that is all that survives. There is no upload and no copy on our servers, so there is nothing to delete afterwards — a confirmation is a purchasing document carrying addresses, contact names and account numbers that this feature has no use for.

Both. Starter covers one plant. Team is priced per plant, so you can add as many as you run.

Archive it. The plant leaves the site switcher and stops appearing in Reports, alerts and exports, while every reading, delivery and order it ever held is kept and can be restored later — ChemLevel never deletes a plant’s records. Archiving frees it against your plan’s limit, so a replacement plant set up before your next renewal needs no extra seat. On Team, which is priced per plant, the next renewal bills only the plants still in service, so restoring an archived plant after that needs room on your plan. Administrators only, and the last plant still in service cannot be archived.

Every time a level or weight reading is logged, ChemLevel calculates consumption weighted by the actual time elapsed since the last reading — not a flat daily average. Two readings 33 hours apart are treated as a rate over 33 hours, not two "daily" checks. That rate drives days-until-empty, an order-by date, and a recommended order quantity, all recalculated the moment a new reading lands. A forecast appears as soon as there are two readings to compare, and it keeps improving as history builds: ChemLevel averages usage over a rolling two-week window by default, so expect the numbers to settle over roughly the first two weeks of logging. The app shows how far along you are and stops mentioning it once there is enough — and the window length is a setting if your plant runs to a different rhythm. Open it from Recent Entries on that chemical and correct it. The value, the note and the time it was taken are all editable, and a weigh-in round can be moved the same way. Time is editable because it matters: the forecast measures usage over the gap between readings, so a round walked at 6am and keyed in at 9am would otherwise look like three hours of chemical nobody used. Corrections are not quiet — every change is recorded with who made it and when, and the tank’s current level is recomputed from whichever reading is newest afterwards.

That's fine — the forecast is built around actual elapsed time between readings, not a fixed check-in schedule, so it stays accurate whether a tank is read daily, twice a week, or on an irregular rotation.

On the Team plan, yes, once it knows what last year looked like. Most plants use far less of every chemical in winter, so ChemLevel runs today’s rate for the next month and then follows last year’s pattern to the end of the budget year. A supervisor can give it last year by pasting past deliveries in under Settings → Budget Year — the date, chemical and amount of each, straight from a spreadsheet — and after a year of readings ChemLevel has its own. Past deliveries shape the projection only; they never count as spend. How the numbers work has the details.

No. ChemLevel drafts the order — quantity, vendor, and delivery window — and a supervisor or operator reviews and sends it. Nothing is purchased or committed automatically.

Yes. Operators can log readings and usage; supervisors additionally configure tanks, cylinders, reorder thresholds and budgets. Managing the account — inviting and removing people, setting roles, billing — is separate again, held by an administrator, so a utility can give account control to its IT department without giving it the chemical configuration. One person can hold both, which is the default for a single plant. Whether an operator sees costs and budgets is a per-person setting. A member can also be limited to particular sites, and a plant they are not assigned to does not appear for them at all — useful for a municipality running several, and off by default. Permissions are per organization. ChemLevel for operators covers what the app records and who can see it, written for the people doing rounds.

Yes. A reading logged in a pump room or chemical storage area with no signal is saved on the device and syncs automatically the moment it finds a connection.

Data is hosted in the United States, encrypted at rest and in transit, and scoped per organization — one site's users can't see another organization's data, and that separation is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app being careful. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is available to every user. Yes, yourself, without asking us. Settings → Data → Export all data returns everything on file for your organization as one file — every reading, usage entry, order, delivery and flagged problem — stamped with who exported it and when. Reports exports summaries separately when a spreadsheet is what you want.

If you cancel, your records stay intact for thirty days and come back if you resubscribe; after that they are permanently deleted. So a lapsed card can't cost you your history, and exporting before that window closes leaves you with everything regardless. See Security for the detail.

Both are in the app, under Settings › Leaving ChemLevel. Leave this organization takes you off the roster and leaves the plant’s records alone — the one to use when somebody moves on. Close this account ends the organization: every site, chemical, tank, reading, delivery and budget it holds is deleted 30 days later, and administrators only can do it. If a subscription is still running, cancel it first so billing stops with the account. The 30 days are deliberate, so closing the wrong account on a Friday afternoon can be undone. Any modern browser — a phone or tablet at the tanks, a desktop in the office. On iPhone or Android you can add it to the home screen, where it opens full screen with no browser bar and keeps recording readings with no signal, syncing when one returns. Native apps for iOS, iPadOS and Android are in development. The browser version stays the one we lead with, and it has no version to chase: everyone is on the current one the next time they open it.
