Delete your ChemLevel account
You can do this yourself, in the app, without asking anyone. If you cannot sign in, email us and we will do it for you.

1. Three different things, and which one you want
ChemLevel separates these on purpose, because one label could not honestly cover all three. Leaving and deleting affect only you. Closing affects the whole plant.
- Leave this organization — takes you off the roster. You keep your ChemLevel login and can be invited again later. The plant’s records are not affected, because they belong to the organization rather than to you.
- Delete your account — removes the login itself: your email address, your password, and any two-factor authentication set up on it. It also takes you off every organization’s roster on the way out. The plant’s records are still not affected. This is the one to choose if you want to be removed from ChemLevel entirely.
- Close this account — ends the organization. Every site, chemical, tank, reading, delivery and budget it holds is deleted 30 days later, along with the account records of everyone on it. Administrators only.
Deleting your account will be refused while you are the only supervisor or the only administrator of an organization, and the message will say which one. That is deliberate: it would otherwise leave a plant that nobody can run or administer. Hand the role to someone else first, or close that organization instead.
2. Deleting your account in the app
Open Settings, scroll to Leaving ChemLevel, and choose Delete your account. You will be asked to confirm by tapping a second time. Nothing is deleted until you do.
Once it completes you are signed out on that device and the account no longer exists. There is no undo, and no recovery window — unlike closing an organization, which keeps its data for 30 days, deleting a login takes effect immediately.
3. If you cannot sign in
You do not need the app, and you do not need to reinstall it. Email info@chemlevel.com from the address on the account, and ask us to delete it. Please include:
- the email address the account uses;
- the name of the utility or plant, if you know it, so we can find the right record.
We will verify the request against our records before acting on it, and may ask you to confirm something only the account holder would know. We respond within one month, and in practice far sooner. If you are asking us to delete an entire organization rather than your own login, we will confirm you are entitled to make that decision first.
4. What is deleted, and when
Deleting your account removes, immediately:
- your login — email address, password, and any two-factor authentication enrolled on it;
- your membership of every organization, so your name stops appearing on any team list.
What stays is the plant’s operational record: readings, deliveries, orders, budgets and maintenance notes. These belong to the organization rather than to you, and a utility’s chemical history should not disappear because one operator moved on. What is removed from them is the link to you — entries you made stop being attributed to anybody. The record stays; who made it is forgotten.
If you want the plant’s data deleted as well, that is Close this account, which an administrator can do from the same screen. It deletes everything the organization holds after a 30-day recovery window — see Data retention and deletion.
5. What is kept, and why
- Billing and tax records — retained as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years, independently of account deletion. We cannot delete these on request.
- Support correspondence — if you have emailed us, that history is retained while it remains useful and reviewed periodically.
- Backups — deleted data may persist briefly in encrypted backups until those age out on their ordinary cycle.
